Meet Andrei – Engineering Apprentice
I am part of a team of technicians that work to a planned maintenance regime and also work to repair broken/failed trams back out into service. I started as KAM as an engineering apprentice and now I am qualified as a level 1 technician following on from the completion of my apprenticeship, I have since managed to take the next step and am a vehicle technician which comes with more responsibility and more technical work such as repairs and fault finding.
Meet Denzel – Business Administration Apprentice
I completed a Business Administration apprenticeship alongside my role as an LRV Planner, building strong planning, organisational and communication skills in just 18 months. I enjoy the variety of the role and the support from my team, with new challenges and learning opportunities every day.
My advice for future apprentices: go for it. Stay curious, ask questions and take every opportunity to grow.

Meet Lauren – HR Apprentice
I joined Metrolink in 2015 as a driver and soon discovered a passion for people, strategy and making a difference. I took on a Level 5 HR apprenticeship, gaining hands-on experience alongside a professional qualification.
Eighteen months later, I qualified and stepped into a role as Employee Experience Manager. Two years on, and I’m leading projects, shaping colleague experience and bringing my frontline insight into everything I do.
My advice is to know what you want from an apprenticeship, get stuck in, and don’t be afraid to ask for opportunities.
Meet Eugene – Facilities Apprentice
After 15 years as a Dental Nurse, I decided to take on a new challenge through an apprenticeship with KAM, retraining as a Property Maintenance Operative.
Now working as a Network Presentation Engineer Apprentice, I’m building hands on skills with strong support from my team and mentors.
I really value the supportive environment, career opportunities and stability, it’s given me a second chance at a career I’m excited about.
